was surprised to hear him say that. >> one of the biggest criticisms of president obama and the administration has been they tend to negotiate against themselves. i'm at this position and a week later i'm at this position. what he's trying to do is show their hardening their stance but in the end they will make a deal. it's hard to raise $1.6 trillion in revenues. most of the deals we've seen that were working were two and a half to one spending cuts. and all you are hearing about is revenues. >> the republicans on the hill really believe that the president is prepared to go over the cliff and blame them. they believe this is a political exercise. and so they believe that's what's happening. gietner hardened their position. >> we have about a minute left. want to shift focus to syria. there's word that they are preparing chemical weapons i mean loading some of these chemical weapons into bombs and into planes. what are your concerns about this? there are the obvious concerns. but this puts the u.s. in a difficult position with how you deal with this if president asad goes forward with this. >>

. we are not moving and we are not going to let yougo get away with villinizing our administration a new obama going into the next 4iers. i am hoping we will see a lot more progressive reforms because of it. >> i hope you are right, too. we talked about this. something i want to get to at the top of the hour. obama has every reason right? to feel the power and exercise the power. every day -- i mean he won. okay? he won on november 6th, the popular vote the electoral vote overwhelmingly but i didn't realize there are still millions of votes still uncounted and every day, his margin keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger. he is now a 51%, and romney is at 47%. there is something magic about the 47%. right? >> beautifully reviewed up. it's so good >> bill: the fact he ends up part of the 47%. obama, 51%. he beat romney by more than george bush beat john kerry in 2004. >> that's a solid, solid victory. he has a mandate. >> i think he definitely has a mandate. >> do you think he knows it? >> i think he knows he has a mandate. he has a mandate.

quota for our pork, but this administration under president obama has fallen short in its obligation to stand up with u.s. farmers on these sanitary and phyto-sanitary standards. in other words, using sound science instead of some i illegitimate reason for keeping our products out of russia. i have communicated time and again what i expected of this administration because they have to negotiate for us. in june 2011, i led a bipartisan letter with senators nelson and 26 other senators to ambassador kirk requesting his negotiators follow the steps that we have taken during consideration of the past w.t.o. accessions. so i refer to china and vietnam as examples for this administration to follow. when these countries joined the w.t.o., we use these opportunities to obtain firm sanitary, phyto-sanitary commitments from those countries that went beyond the w.t.o. sanitary, phyto-sanitary agreements. in particular, we obtained further commitments in areas of meat inspection equivalence. in addition, in june of this year, i sent another bipartisan letter with senator nelson of nebraska and 3

that entity, blame, blame, blame. if i look at the first administration of president barack obama, there was a lot of inherentiiting of debt. i'm not saying i agree or disagree. there's many that believe blaming someone else is just a way to shirk leadership. i'll tell you what. here's the problem with the blame game. when blame becomes an issue, it takes the empathy out. it takes the civility out and it green lights sustaining dysfunctional patterns. i'll give you an example. once you start blaming for example, let's take grover norquist. he's good target. once you start blaming grover norquist for a pledge made to get elected by representatives, you are totally doing a bait and switch. all of a sudden the issue of entitlementsbowles. why? they will look straight in the camera and say the gorilla in the room, entitlements. but when the blame game happens and you basically do bait and switch, you create a red herring. in this case, the red herring, and it is red, are tax issues. or taxing the rich even though the real issue you're avoiding, the big one, are the entitlements and th

that washington doesn't have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem. and under this administration, under president obama, we have seen record deficits and a record debt accumulate, and yet he keeps demanding that we have seen record deficits and a record debt accumulate, and yet he keeps demanding that we raise taxes to pay for more spending. this will only hurt our economy. ernst and young has done an analysis of the president's proposal and said it will cost several hundreds thousands of jobs. there is a better way and the speaker has laid it out. it is an approach that calls for tax reform by reforming the tax code and passing responsible spending cuts in order to get our fiscal house in order. that's what america wants. this is our opportunity to do the big things. this is our moment to provide that leadership that america desperately wants and we stand here ready to take the action necessary. >> the american people are hurting right now and now is the moment where we need to step up to the plate and solve the problem. cann't know how any of us look our kids and grandkids in the eye
